Research & Clinical Trials

The Center is dedicated to research and data collection (to monitor outcomes). We collaborate with other professionals and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in conducting research, and have more than 10 active research protocols at any given time.

The study that most of our patients with bleeding disorders participate in is the Universal Data Collection Study (UDC Study). The UDC Study is a nationwide project to monitor the health status of people with hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease (vWD) and other bleeding disorders. In addition, the study is designed to monitor the safety of the U.S. blood supply by measuring hepatitis and HIV status on participants. More than 17,000 people nationwide are enrolled and it is anticipated that data collection over time will continue.

  • UDC Study - A nationwide project to monitor the health status of people with hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease (vWD).
  • SPINART Study - A prophylactic factor concentrate study for adults who have not been on regular prophylaxsis.
  • NN1731 in Hemophilia - RVIIa analogue in the treatment of non life threatening bleeds in patients with inhibitors to Factor VIII or Factor IX.
  • Hemophila Prevention Program Questionnaire - in partnership with the National Hemophilia Foundation.
  • Study agent in congenital hemophilia B - not yet open for enrollment but will be a phase I study using a factor IX concentrate made by Novo Nordisk.

If you would like more information on these or other studies being conducted, please call the Center at 612-626-6455.
